4th Annual R&D Day
Nov. 2009
Our annual R&D Day is held when we have access to the new and upcoming models and prototypes for the following season. We invite 20 or so of our our customers with varying handicaps and have them test the new equipment. We test for overall looks, feel, sound and performance to try to better predict upcoming trends. Below we will post some of the results and numbers for your perusal. please feel free to Email us your questions or comments.

Tester - Link H: 18 Hcp.

  1. Callaway Diablo Edge Iron: (5 Iron, Steel Shaft)
    • Looks: Liked the clean look of the iron
    • Feel:  Fell was great, weight at the bottom of the wider sole made him feel like he was staying down through the ball

  1. Cobra SZ Iron: (6 Iron, Graphite Shaft)
    • Looks:   Liked the look of the iron, looks nice and clean
    • Feel: Solid, weight distribution was good, club felt balanced

  1. Adams A7 OS Iron: (6 Iron Hybrid, Graphite Shaft)
    • Looks: Not bad, did not like the bigger look
    • Feel: Very good feel with good results, overall weight felt lighter

  1. TaylorMade R9 Iron: (6 Iron, Steel Shaft)
    • Feel:  Really nice feel, very solid
    • Looks: Very clean and sleek, thin top line liked that
    • Not as consistent, not as forgiving

     5.  Ping G15 Iron: (7 Iron, Steel Shaft)

    • Looks: Liked the look a lot, the finish on the iron was real nice
    • Feel: Great, best of bunch w/ Callaway
    • Nice high ball flight w/ good distance

 Conclusion:

The Callaway iron and the Ping iron were Links personal favorites.  From the launch monitor results the Callaway and the Ping were great. Link also got some great results out of the Adams iron which he did not really like the look of but liked the feel.
